MAP TO BETSY JEFF-PENN - NEAR REIDSVILLE

This camp is notoriously difficult to find. Please consult and print ALL resources below and leave plenty of time to get to camp.

It is suggested you follow the instructions below. When approaching Reidsville, it is best to use 29 Bypass to intersect Hwy 14. Using 29 business is much more confusing and congested even though it appears shorter on most maps.

PLEASE DESTROY ALL MAPS PRINTED PRIOR TO 2/2003. Those maps were drawn incorrectly.

Directions from Raleigh or points east:

Travel time: approximately 1:45 to 2:00 from Raleigh

Take I-40/85 from Raleigh/Durham west. Then you have two options:

Take exit 147 (Hwy 87) in Graham/Burlington and follow the directions below from Burlington.
Take exit 128 (Hwy 6 & to Hwy 29, proceed to Hwy 29) and follow the instructions below from Greensboro.

The travel time is about the same for both.
From Burlington: The trip through Graham & Burlington is scenic. You must follow Hwy 87 carefully for over 25 miles. It is a nice and scenic trip. However, it is difficult in the dark.
From Greensboro:Taking Hwy 29 from Greensboro is a much longer trip in miles, but about the same in time travel when coming from Raleigh/Durham. Most of the trip is on interstate quality highway. It is less scenic, but easier to follow in the dark.

Directions from Burlington:

Take Hwy 87 North and West out of Burlington to Reidsville.
After Hwy 87 takes a sharp turn left, you will encounter the the large intersection marked "Hwy 29", this is Hwy 29 bypass. Take the North exit and proceed north on Hwy 29 bypass.
Follow Hwy 29 bypass and then take the Hwy 14 and Hwy 158 exit (Eden and Yanceyville Exit). Turn left (west) at the exit, toward Eden.
Continue on Hwy 14 past Hwy 29 Business. The second left after Hwy 29 Business (continue through one light, past the Food Lion) is Salem Church Road. Turn left on Salem Church Road.
Follow Salem Church Road about 1.5 miles. At about 1.5 miles, turn SHARPLY (really, really sharp!) RIGHT onto Cedar Lane (4-H Center sign marks this intersection). If you get to the Upper Piedmont Research Farm, you went too far.
Proceed on Cedar Lane and continue for about .8 miles until you see the entrance and signs for the 4-H center on the left. Turn down the road for the 4-H center.

Directions from Greensboro:

Take Hwy 29 North to Reidsville to the fourth Reidsville Exit, which will be for Hwy 14 and Hwy 158 (Eden and Yanceyville Exit). Turn left (west) at the exit, toward Eden.
Continue on Hwy 14 past Hwy 29 Business. The second left after Hwy 29 Business (continue through one light, past the Food Lion) is Salem Church Road. Turn left on Salem Church Road.
